CapMap
This tool must engage an organization’ s leadership in a collaborative discovery process that is transparent and obvious, and empowers them as actors, not subjects, in their own organizational development. Thus, the capacity mapping process is envisioned as a shared effort that builds energy for change, and is not an end in itself. A capacity map is the beginning, not the end, of a change project.
Designed by LISC’ s Organizational Development Initiative and the members of the LISC Operating Support Collaborative, CapMap allows its user to “map” an organization’ s capacity along a spectrum of progressive measurements identifying both a baseline as well as a potential “target” for future growth. CapMap will assist both Impact Capital staff as well as nonprofit leadership in identifying specific areas of organizational growth worthy of investment. It will help target resources and evaluate the impact of Impacty Capital's capacity building efforts. In the long term, it will provide a rich body of data on organizational growth nationally to inform all capacity building work.
