WHITE CENTER NEIGHBORHOOD ACTION PLAN

Impact Capital worked closely with our community partner, the White Center Community Development Association (WCDA), to create a new Neighborhood Action Plan. Impact Capital obtained a grant for this project and provided project management oversight to address challenges as they arose and guide the plan to completion. The WCDA supplied invaluable guidance on the content of both existing plans and on overall community priorities and concerns. They also reached out to dozens of their community partners to obtain community commitment to the plan.
The White Center Neighborhood Action Plan is a comprehensive plan addressing a range of priorities within the community. These include:
- Preparing and connecting residents to family supporting jobs that provide career and wage advancement.
- Helping families save now and in the future to achieve their goals.
- Providing children and families with the resources and support to succeed in school.
- Developing vacant and under-utilized land into community-prioritized commercial, retail, arts and cultural uses and mixed-income housing.
- Creating an attractive, walkable neighborhood with great parks, community gathering spaces and public art that is easily accessible on foot, bike or public transit.
- Creating a vibrant cultural and economic business district that provides affordable goods and services for the culturally diverse community, employs local entrepreneurs and is supported by active community members.
- Improving children and families’ health and wellness in homes, schools and the neighborhood.
- Provide support, training and a continuum of opportunities for all residents of all ages to participate in shaping the neighborhood’s future.
