SPOKANE, WA – April 20, 2010 – Avista Foundation, a new supporter of Impact Capital, has donated $3,500 to support the Spokane International District Banner program.
In 2009, Impact Capital partnered with the City of Spokane and SNAP to launch a Vibrant Communities project in the Spokane International District located within the East Central Neighborhood. The Vibrant Communities Program works with stakeholders on the ground to strengthen neighborhood commercial districts, increase public safety, create parks and open space, improve educational opportunities and help families build assets.
The funds from Avista Foundation will help provide brightly colored banners bearing the Spokane International District logo to help clearly mark the geographic area and promote the vibrancy of the commercial corridor.
“Impact Capital has worked through a series of public meetings attended by a broad base of Spokane City stakeholders to create a ‘brand’ for the new district,” explained Terri Symbol. “The name, Spokane International District, was selected and a professional advertising agency is working with community stakeholders to create the district’s logo. The hope is that this branding effort will lead to neighborhood recognition and increased economic growth.”
With the installment of the new banners, the Spokane International District can draw more customers, support an environment for international, cultural, and artistic events, increase marketability, and create a positive image for the neighborhood
“It is a pleasure to partner with Impact Capital on addressing the needs of our community and its citizens” said Executive Director of Avista Foundation, Kristine Meyer. “The enhancement of our community’s neighborhoods is an economic driver for the entire city.
Avista Foundation focuses upon addressing the needs of communities and citizens through three focus areas – education, vulnerable and limited income populations, and economic and cultural vitality.
